RYA Day Skipper Theory Via Zoom

The Day Skipper shore-based course is for those that have done little or no actual navigation, regardless of your experience at sea

The course includes lots of navigation (including use of GPS and electronic charts), meteorology, collision regulations and safety procedures.

When we don’t have a pandemic to deal with you can join one of the classroom courses listed here.

The course cost is £250.
Attendees will need their own Portland Plotter and dividers or we can provide at additional cost for an extra £25.
The course start date is on 23rd January and will be over 5 sessions of 2 hours each per week.  The course, therefore, lasts 4 weeks.  The precise timings of the course will be varied depending on the delegates but the starting timing is: Sat 9-11 am, Sun 9-11 am, Mon 6-8 pm, Wed 6-8 pm and Fri 6-8 pm.

Ideally, the Day Skipper theory course should be followed by a Day Skipper practical course. On completion of the practical course, you will be qualified to charter and skipper a yacht. Depending on how much sailing you have previously done you may need to take a practical Competent Crew course before taking the Day Skipper Practical Course.
